How will this course benefit me?

This course will enable learners to dance competently to music in a variety of routines in both ballroom and Latin American dancing. Learners will also improve their general level of fitness and muscle tone. Dance classes contribute to a healthy lifestyle and improved well-being, which will benefit you at home and at work.

 

What are the entry requirements?

Individuals, pairs and social dancers are welcome.

Learners must notify the tutor of any injuries and/or medical conditions (including pregnancy).You will be required to complete a medical questionnaire on attendance. Some conditions may require a doctor's consent form before participation in the class.

 

This course is specifically for intermediates.  If your tutor assesses you at a differently, you will be asked to transfer to a more appropriate level/course.

 

What will I learn?

You will learn short routines in 4 or 5 of the following dances:
Ballroom:  Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Waltz, Social Rhythm
Latin American:  Cha-Cha, Jive, Rumba, Samba

How will the course be delivered?

Demonstration and instruction of steps and reinforcing techniques.
Students will be taught in a group and given one-to-one help from the tutor or assistant tutor when necessary or possible.

How will my learning be assessed?

You will receive regular verbal feedback from your tutor, who will assess you continually and informally through observation and questioning.  An Individual Learning Plan will help you monitor your progress and reach your target.

What are the extra costs?

None.

 

What can I progress to next?

Dance classes at other organisations. A ‘What Next’ progression leaflet will be available at the end of the course.

 

 

Health & safety requirements?

You will need to follow your teacher's advice and guidance to ensure that you are exercising safely. You must always communicate to your tutor any new health conditions. We recommend you bring a bottle of water to rehydrate and that you wear comfortable footwear.
