How will this course benefit me?
This course is suitable for those already confident in applying the basic techniques of Pilates, and who have been advised by the tutor that this is the correct level course for them.
It will improve flexibility, mobility, muscle tone, strength, breathing and relaxation.
Fitness classes contribute to a healthy lifestyle and an improved well-being which will benefit you at home and at work.
What are the entry requirements?
This course is specifically for improvers. If your tutor assesses you at a different level, you will be asked to transfer to a course at a more appropriate level.
You must notify the tutor of any injuries and/or medical conditions (including pregnancy). You will be required to complete a medical questionnaire on attendance. Some conditions may require a letter of consent from your doctor before you can participate in the class.
This course requires a full commitment to learning by attending every session and arriving on time.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to further develop your understanding of the main 6 principles of Pilates.
By the end of the course you be able to perform a number of the more challenging moves, building on your previous experience. You will develop your core strength further, building on the quality of the movements performed.
All learners will have the knowledge to be able to perform a basic programme in their home environment, adding challenges as appropriate.
Learners will be able to use recommended books and videos in their own time.
How will the course be delivered?

- Group and one-to-one guidance and support.
How will my learning be assessed?
You will receive regular verbal feedback from your tutor, who will assess you continually and informally through observation and Q & A. An Individual Learning Plan will help you monitor your progress and reach your targets.
What are the extra costs?
Mats are available, but students might prefer to bring their own.
We recommend you bring a bottle of water to rehydrate during exercise.
Please wear comfortable, loose clothing (such as track suit, leggings or jogging bottoms and a
T-shirt). Pilates is normally performed barefoot.
Health & safety requirements?
You will need to follow your tutor’s advice and guidance to ensure that you are exercising safely and following health & safety procedures.
You must also let your tutor know of any new health conditions and concerns.
What course can I progress to next?
Pilates at a higher level, or other form of exercise. A ‘What Next?’ progress leaflet will be available at the end of the course.
